Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science is a private, non-benefit, Historically Black College and University and a Minority Serving Institution found in Willowbrook, unincorporated Los Angeles County, California, United States.[1][2] It was made in 1966 in light of lacking supportive work environments inside the Watts area of Los Angeles, California, USA. Later, the foundation changed into a University and transformed its name to mirror its new instructive part. The University is named to pay tribute to Dr. Charles R. Drew. It was joined with the past Martin Luther King Jr./Charles R. Drew Medical Center from 1972 to 2006, and occasionally recommended as King-Drew University.
The school is an area school of Thurgood Marshall College Fund
On February 27, 2010 a U.S. Sea power barge was named for Dr. Charles R. Drew, who shock blood saving trade in for cold hard currency the middle of World War II. A copy sits in the School of Nursing Lobby
